Clifford T. ‘Cliff’ Coppoc

WELLS — Clifford T. “Cliff” Coppock, 89, of Wells, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on November 11, 1934, in Escanaba, son of Harley and Henrietta (Davis) Coppock. Cliff was raised in Brampton.

On March 19, 1971, Cliff married Christine Peterson in Escanaba.

He worked for Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 37 years as a switchman, retiring in 1991.

Cliff had a passion for golf and loved spending a lot of his time at the Gladstone Golf Course, often golfing in his “donut league.” He loved going to his camp and working with his tractor and riding his side by side. Cliff enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, playing his guitar, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Coppock of Wells; children, Clifford (Liz) Coppock, Dan (Karen) Coppock, Lisa (Matt) Rice, Tina (Jeff) Heiden, and Tim (Kerri) Coppock; grandchildren, Dylan (Kristyn) Coppock, Ryan (Abbey) Coppock, Nikki Gustafson, Dustin (Kendra) Witkowski, Amanda (Jesse) Zambon, Ally Heiden, Luke Coppock, Dale Coppock, and Kyle Witkowski; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Rocky (Barb) Tardiff; brothers-in-law, Mark and Mike Peterson; special friends, Gary and Pat Royer; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Donna Hilling and Caroline Coppock; son, Dale Coppock; father-in-law, Edwin Peterson; mother-in-law, Ruby Peterson; and aunt, Della Stowe.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 19 from 1 – 3 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 500 Ogden Avenue, Escanaba. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Bishop Rayford and Sue Ray officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Burial will take place in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
