Roy Franklin Feagan

RAPID RIVER — Roy Franklin Feagan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, went to be with his Lord on Monday January 29, 2024 at the age of 79.

Roy was born on November 1, 1944, in Missouri to Luther and Letha Feagan. After the death of his father when he was three, Roy’s mother Letha married widower Raymond Clark.

In combining their families they had seven children; Barb (Bill) Burdine, Marla (David) Alberts, Randy Clark, Alvie (Becky) Clark, JoAnn (Arden) Umpleby and Joyce (Jack) Boot.

Roy married Anne Akers on June 28, 1975. They were best friends and shared just shy of 49 years making memories. Together they made their life living in Lower Michigan. Roy was employed at General Motors in his earlier years and then retired after 27 years from Four Winns in Cadillac. After retirement Roy and Anne moved to the U.P. to live in Rapid River.

Roy is survived by his wife, Anne; daughters, Cheri (Kurt) Nietling and Lisa Lutke; grandchildren, Jacob (Amanda) Nietling, Shelby (Steve) Olsen, Dalton (Haley) Wade and Jessica Wade; great-grandchildren, Jack, Kade, Silas, Brock and Julia, who all were the “Apple” of his eye; siblings, Barb (Bill) Burdine, Marla (David) Alberts, and Randy Clark; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, as well as siblings Alvie (Becky) Clark, JoAnn (Arden) Umpleby and Joyce (Jack) Boot.

Roy was always a friend and never met a stranger. He was generous, joyful, loving, determined and patient. Roy was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, trapping, golfing and camping, although his greatest passion was fishing! And he was good at it. He enjoyed teaching and sharing his knowledge about fishing with anyone young or old. He will be truly missed by so many.

An informal memorial visitation will be held in Roy’s honor on Sunday, February 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Rapid River Lodge, 13149 S.15 Road, Rapid River. In lieu of flowers we kindly ask that donations be made to the family or to the U.P. Trappers Association in c/o Roy Dahlgren 4131 D. Road Bark River MI. 49807.
