Gregory Stuart Hansen

SEBASTAIN, Fla. — Gregory Stuart Hansen passed away after a short illness on February 19, 2024 at the age of 76. He was born on April 10, 1947 to Dr. Donald and Norma Hansen in Evanston, Ill. Greg was the older brother to sisters Carol “Callie” Hansen and Martha Hansen and younger brother Doug Hansen.
After graduating High School Greg enlisted in the Navy, eventually being stationed at Naval Station Great Lakes. After the Navy, Greg moved his young wife and daughter from Evanston, Ill. to Gladstone, Mich. to start a parts machining business with some partners. The business eventually grew to become Lakeside Machine, Inc, which Greg was a partner in until 2000 when he sold his shares to the other owners and started running Brothers Manufacturing in Hermansville, Mich. Greg semi-retired in 2004 and shortly after the birth of his granddaughters moved to Sebastain, Fla. with his wife Jenny. In Sebastian, Greg started a very successful home inspection business – Home Alert, Inc., which he operated with Jenny until he finally called it retirement for good in 2022.
Greg was known as an honest, kind-hearted man that grew deep circles of life-long friendships wherever he went. He was a big Green Bay Packers fan and he was a car guy, with a special affinity for early Shelbys.
Greg is preceded in death by his parents, his older brother David Hansen, his younger sister Carol Ruth “Callie” Hansen and his daughter Carolyn Crawford Hansen. He is survived by his wife Jennifer, his son David, daughter-in-law April, granddaughters Mandy and Liberty, brother Doug, sister Martha and sister-in-law Margaret Spier.
Greg was a long-standing member of the Elks and served as Exalted Ruler of the Escanaba Lodge from 1996 to 1997. In lieu of flowers the family kindly ask that donations be made in his name to the Elks Lodge #354 in Escanaba, Mich.
Burial will be at a later date in the family plot in Dixon, Ill.
