Walter ‘Bill’ Pinar
ESCANABA — Walter “Bill” Pinar, 92, of Escanaba, passed away early Thursday morning, January 18, 2024 at his home.
He was born on August 26, 1931 in Wells, Mich., son of Nick and Ruby (Perele) Pinar. Bill graduated from Escanaba High School and then furthered his education at Bay College.
On January 16, 1958, Bill married Audrey Kositizki at St. Patrick’s Church in Escanaba. He was a very loving and devoted husband, sharing 50 years of marriage before Audrey preceded him in death on June 2, 2008.
Bill was employed at UPPCO for mechanical maintenance from 1966 until his retirement in 1992.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and always tinkering with his tractors and anything else he could fix. He was always willing to help others and was “Mr. Fix-It” for many. Bill enjoyed singing, had a great sense of humor, was always happy, and never complained about anything. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and was an even bigger fan to his grandchildren, which he loved so much, supporting them in all of their sporting events. His family, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews were his pride and joy.
He was a member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelly Dean and Kay (Tony) Klenow of Escanaba; grandchildren, Ricky (Jessica) Larsen, Brian (Stephanie) Larsen, Lisa Larsen (fiancé, Mark Viau), Brett (Morgan) Jenshak, Codi (Justin) Jenshak-Gorzinski, and Ben Klenow; great grandchildren, RJ Larsen, and Van and Reese Larsen; siblings, Jim (Judie) Pinar, Clarence (Delores) Pinar, Tom (Kay) Pinar, Gladys Anderson and Margaret (Don) Haas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Audrey; brother, Rudy; sister, Donna; brother, Bobby; sister, Dotsy Sosebee; brother, Dennis; brother, Mike; sister, Marilyn Eckman; infant sister, Mary Rose; son-in-law, Tim Dean; and close brothers and sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 24 from 2 – 3:45 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba. At the conclusion of the visitation hours, a eulogy will be shared. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 4:30 p.m. at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church with Rev. Robb Jurkovich officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.
