Kurt Frederick Jahn
SAULT STE. MARIE — Kurt Frederick Jahn, 62, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died January 6, 2024, at McLaren Hospital, Petoskey, Mich. with his family by his side. He was born November 28, 1961, to his parents, Norman Barry Jahn and the late Margaret Mueller. Kurt graduated from Manistique Area Schools and went on to receive his welding certificate. While living in Las Vegas, Kurt met the love of his life, the former Carol Allmandinger at the Stardust Casino and were later married on May 31, 1996.
Kurt loved sports, Go Blue! In high school he played on the football and wrestling teams and was an avid golfer. Kurt was a devoted University of Michigan supporter and a Green Bay Packer fan. He loved life! Kurt told the best jokes and loved making others laugh. He adored his wife and was a loving husband. He was a dedicated grandfather to Wyatt and William whom he loved very much along with numerous nieces and nephews he cared for deeply. Kurt spoiled and loved his buddy, his precious little dog, Winston.
He was a life member of the NRA, a true American patriot who fiercely loved the red, white, and blue. He was loyal to his family and friends; he said what was on his mind. Kurt had the best sense of humor; he was a fun-loving guy. We will miss his willingness to help others, his one-of-a-kind, unforgettable character and spirit.
Kurt is survived by his stepdaughter, Jennifer Whealan along with his two grandsons, Wyatt Whealan of West Richland, Wash. and William Whealan of Dillon, MT; great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother, Bette Jahn of Manistique; brothers, David B. (Tania) Jahn, of Traverse City, Mich.; Norman W. (Marla) Jahn, of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.; sister, Bette Jean (Dale) Immel of Munising, Mich.; brothers and sisters in-laws, Russ Allmandinger, Scott Patterson, Judy Jahn and Kimberly Mason.
Kurt was preceded in death by his wife of 22 years, Carol Jahn; father, Norman Barry Jahn, birthmother, Margaret Alice Mueller, and sister Heidi Ann Jahn.
Visitation for Kurt will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, January 12, with a memorial service starting at 6 p.m. with Rev. Dawn Ferguson presiding. The visitation and memorial service will be at the Fausett Family Funeral Home in Manistique, Mich.
A spring burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery with a date to be determined.
Memorial donations in Kurt’s honor may be directed to the family for future designation.
