Mary Cavadeas
MELBOURNE, Fla. — Mary Cavadeas, formally from Escanaba, passed away December 17, 2023. She was born on January 25, 1938, departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. A devoted mother survived by her son George (Linda) Cavadeas and daughters Diane (Chris) Hammond and Sue (Paul) Kuracz, Mary’s life was marked by selflessness and kindness. Mary managed Weissert and King optical in Escanaba and often her dog Moco could be seen sitting in the window. Upon their closing she went back to college and became a registered nurse, the first graduating class at Bay de Noc Community College. She then moved on to Battle Creek then on to Holes hospital in Melbourne, Florida until her retirement. She had a special affection for animals, offering unwavering care to both pets and feral creatures. Mary’s nurturing spirit extended to all beings in need, exemplifying her boundless empathy.
As a cherished grandmother to Haylee Hammond, Kacy Cavadeas, and Kalli Huston, and great-grandmother to Greyson and Quincy Huston, Mary’s presence brought warmth and joy to her family’s lives, leaving behind beautiful memories and a profound impact on those she loved.
