John A. Pokladowski

BARK RIVER — John A. Pokladowski, 62, of Bark River, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, December 8, 2023 of natural causes.

He was born on December 19, 1960 in Escanaba, son to Frank J. and Stasia H. (Roschyk) Pokladowski. John was a lifelong resident of Bark River and graduated in 1979.

John owned and operated John Pokladowski Log and Farming Trucking Company in Bark River.

He enjoyed spending time with his grand kids, farming, participating in motor sports and riding his Harley.

He is survived by two children, Richard Graham and Jesse Bufe; grandchildren, Joey, Savannah, Braden, and Ryder; siblings, David Pokladowski of Yorba Linda, Calif., Joseph Pokladowski of Bark River, Mich., James (Laurie) Pokladowski of Green Bay, Wis., Mary (Myron) VanEffen of Escanaba, Mich., Catherine (Ronald) Grzyb of Bark River, Mich., and Janice (Ronald) Beauchamp of Escanaba; sister-in-law, Sharon Pokladowski of Kent, Wash.; nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Steve) Park, Thomas (Rick) Pokladowski, Joseph Pokladowski Jr., Amy Pokladowski, Brian (Jennifer Masinter) Pokladowski, Teresa Pokladowski, Kimberly Pokladowski, and Quadale (Valerie) McCrea, Matthew (Sarah) VanEffen, Mark VanEffen, Miranda (Randy) Derouin, Kristie (Mike) Dziergas, Melissa (Steve) Mikus, Amanda (Samuel) Marenger, Brennan VanEffen, Mitchell VanEffen, Kayli VanEffen, Daniel VanEffen, Yvonne Moore, and Tammi (Mark) West; former spouse, Becky Spehar; and many other extended family members.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Jr. and sister-in-law, Louise Pokladowski.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 15 at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River from 10 a.m. to noon. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church with Rev. Darryl Pepin officiating.
