Warren W. White

SANTA ROSA, Calif. — Longtime Santa Rosa resident, Warren W. White passed away August 12, 2023, after battling a long-term illness. He was born March 22, 1946 in Lansing, Mich., to Charles White and Muriel (Miller) White. He grew up in the Michigan U.P. and was a 1964 graduate of Gladstone High School.

In 1965, White enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Africa for several years. Prior to his Honorable Discharge in 1969, he also did a tour of duty at Two Rock Army Base. After his service to his country, he attended Sonoma State University and graduated in 1973 with a degree in economics.

Next, Crescent City, Calif. became his home for several years. As director of economic development, Warren worked with Fed, State and Local governments in developing and managing fish hatcheries and sustainable forest utilization and preservation. He was also instrumental in bringing Pelican Bay Prison to Crescent City, which became the area’s largest employer.

Upon retirement, Warren returned to Sonoma County. He served as a valued volunteer, assisting his fellow veterans on the navigation of the VA benefit’s complexities. He was also a member of the Elks Petaluma Lodge 901.

Warren had traits that elude many of us. He was always the most personable and interesting guy in the room. Possessor of uncommon knowledge, wit and charm, he was also supremely benevolent to his fellow man. His spirit will forever be with us.

Warren was preceded in death by both parents and leaves behind his daughter Pamela White, son Peter White and grandchildren, Joey Lee Bradford Jr. and Taylor A Bradford. His sister Mary Ellen (R Richard) Courier, nephews Scott and Brent and niece Lynette Railsback.
