Katherine Marie Kurtti Woodaz

GLADSTONE — Katherine Marie Kurtti Woodaz passed into eternal peace on November 9, 2023.

She was born April 3, 1948, in Minneapolis, Minn. to Ed and Gladys (Thompson) Kurtti. After graduating from West High High School, she attended the University of Minnesota.

Katherine met her husband Thomas Woodaz and they married at St. Rita’s Church in Trenary, Mich. on September 5, 1970. Tom and Kathy had five daughters.

Kathy was artistic and creative and had many talents. She was a painter, stained glass artist, seamstress, quilter, knitter, and crocheted. Always beautiful, Kathy was a color and a Mary Kay consultant. She also had her own businesses, Kitty’s Corners, making sweaters, and Finishing Touches, a furniture and decor retailer.

Tom and Kathy also established a household goods moving company in 1981, Escanaba Moving Systems. Kathy took on many roles in the company, but her biggest contribution was her charm and the calming effect she had on her customers.

She is survived by her dedicated husband of 53 years, Tom; her daughters and sons-in-law, Heather (Timothy) Spencer, Stephanie (Gary) Wautier, Anna (Jason) Norman, Melanie (Michael) Korczyk, and Jacqueline (Patrick) Kleen; her 11 grandchildren, and brothers, James (Rennee) Kurtti and Timothy Kurtti.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Darryl Kurtti.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 17, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S 13th St, Escanaba. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow 12 p.m. at St Joseph and St Patrick Parish with Rev. Timothy Ferguson officiating. The burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
