Laurel (Lori) Lee (Des Jardin) Christ

MILWAUKEE — Laurel (Lori) Lee (Des Jardin) Christ, age 70, passed on to her eternal home with the Lord on October 2, 2023. She was born on November 27, 1952 in Milwaukee to Wong “George” Jin Wong and Katherine Des Jardin. The oldest of three siblings, she spent her young years helping her single mother raise her brother and sister. She was like a second mother to them, but later became their best friend. She graduated from Escanaba High School in 1971 and then moved to Milwaukee to begin a 27 year career with Blue Cross Blue Shield. In 1990, she married Thomas Christ, and shared her life with him for the next 33 years.

Lori had a great love for life and was known for her kind and generous spirit. She spoiled her friends and family — any visit brought “prizes” and “goodies” and lots of laughs. She was happiest when around her family; her mom and dad, her brother Doug Lewis, sister Linda (Fred) Calouette, bonus sister (cousin) Sharrie (Joe) Benzinger and all of her nieces and nephews — D.J., Dani (Schaefer), and Nick Lewis, Desiree and Cully Calouette, Michelle Kruzel Samantha Frederick, Bill and John Benzinger and Ellie (Todd) Kisch, Mark Anderson and Christina (Steve) Schaer.

Lori loved music and “jam sessions” or “sing alongs” with her family. Her singing voice was just as beautiful and sweet as she was. She was smart and highly competitive — she could kick anyone’s butt in Scrabble or Words with Friends. She was very artistic and enjoyed painting. She was also very social and made friends easily. She couldn’t walk into a store or restaurant without striking up a friendly conversation and was instantly loved by anyone who spent time with her. She had a passion for shopping and great meals shared with friends or family, and loved going to the movies or watching her favorite shows.

Though she has rejoined some of her most beloved people in heaven — her dad George, mom Katherine, brother Doug, Aunt Edna Kern, Aunt Eleanor (Prunie) and Elmer Anderson, cousins Mark Anderson, Cindy Kalio, Ron Kern, Mary Beth Curran, and Bob Seaberg — she will be so greatly missed by all of the people who cherished her here on earth. In accordance with Lori’s wishes (and she almost always got her way) no formal services will be held. A memorial party will be planned for summer of 2024.
