June Marie Johnson

June was born June 18, 1937, in Escanaba, a daughter of George and Florence (O’Donnell) Milkovich. June was raised in Escanaba and was a graduate of Holy Name High School class of 1955. Following graduation from high school she married Gordon Johnson on August 3, 1957 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Escanaba. The couple then moved to Marquette where they established a home and raised their four children. Later in life June started working as a teller for Range Bank where she worked until her retirement. In her spare time she loved reading, cooking, baking and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. She was an active member of St. Louis the King Catholic Church. June loved spending time with her family and cherished the time spent with family at camp and during the holidays.

She is survived by her four children, Mary (Eric Piirainen) Johnson, Dale Johnson, Jeff Johnson, and Gary Johnson, all of Marquette, and her two brothers, George and Thomas Milkovich both of Linden, Mich.; her brother-in-law, Paul Johnson and her sister-in-law, Violet Fezzey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Gordon; her brother, John Milkovich; and her sister, Rita Wurth.

Friends may call at St. Louis the King Catholic Church, Harvey, on Friday, October 20, from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the church on Friday, October 20, at 11:30 a.m. A dessert reception will follow.

Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Marquette County Alzheimer’s Association, 1229 W Washington, Suite 6, Marquette, MI 49855.
