Gladys J. Vedin

ESCANABA — Gladys J. Vedin, 94, of Escanaba, passed away on Thursday morning, August 31, 2023, at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba.

She was born in Los Angeles on September 16, 1928, daughter to Charles Bennett and Glady Griffith.  She was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Roy and Margie Griffith in Missouri.

Gladys married Clarence “Curly” O. Vedin and were blessed with four children.

She worked for the Escanaba Steam Laundry for over 20 years until her retirement.

Gladys loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.  They brought so much joy to her life.

Survivors include her children, Cary (Linda) Vedin of Escanaba, Terry (Mary) Vedin of Batavia, Ill., Dennis Vedin of Escanaba, and Gwen (Tom) Harris of Escanaba; grandchildren, Justin (Lynn) Vedin, Cory Vedin, Amy (Matt) Berbe, Lucy Mullarkey, Luke Vedin, Benjamin (Jessica) Harris, Andrew (Sara) Harris, and Christopher (Hayley) Harris; 19 great-grandchildren.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, “Curly” Vedin; granddaughter, Sara Vedin; and sister, Betty Russell.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 8, from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba.  A closing prayer will conclude the visitation at 3 p.m.
