Donna R. (O’Connor) McMahon
ESCANABA — Donna R. (O’Connor) McMahon, 82, of Escanaba, passed away on Friday morning, August 11, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.
She was born on April 14, 1941 in Chassell, Mich., the daughter of Patrick D. and Blanche A. (Destramp) O’Connor.
Donna was known for being an intensive care nurse for 35 years at St. Francis Hospital. This career afforded her the ability to raise her three children, as well as forge lifelong friendships, most notably with Marlene, Marilyn, and Becky.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading, baking, and having rummage sales.
Her family was always first, especially her children, which later in life transferred to her grandchildren. She was known at the ice rink as Megan’s grandma and at the library’s story hour as Shannon, Erin, and Ryan’s grandma. At the farmer’s market she was known as the baked goods lady, which was something that gave her great joy, and this is also where she met the love of her life, Jim. She is now known to her family and friends as their own angel looking over them.
Donna is survived by her children, Kevin (Veronica) McMahon, Brian McMahon, and Susan (Thomas) Timler; grandchildren, Joshua McMahon, Robbie Gibson, Megan (Cory) Boddy, Ryan Timler, Shannon Timler, and Erin Timler; five great-grandchildren, and siblings, Joan Woodard, Barb Koel, Alice Bancer, and Patty Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Patrick “Butch” O’Connor.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S 13th St, Escanaba. The Upper Peninsula Nurses Honor Guard will have a brief program at 2 p.m. The funeral service will then follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Timothy Ferguson officiating.
