Anna Mae LeDuc

Anna Mae was born on October 2, 1927, in Escanaba, Michigan, daughter of Rudolph Johnson and Mary Johnson – Kehoe. She graduated from Escanaba High School in 1945 and worked for over 35 years as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell Telephone Company. On June 17, 1967, she married her beloved husband, Robert (Buddy) LeDuc in Escanaba and together they shared 47 years of marriage. Buddy preceded her in death on December 8, 2014.

She was a lifelong resident of Escanaba until relocating to Plymouth to be closer to her family. Her greatest pleasures were sharing the blessings of many happy days with her precious granddaughter Sophia, who she loved beyond measure. She was an avid knitter and baker, making scarfs and baked goods for friends and neighbors and enjoyed shopping with her daughter. She never missed a chance to go strawberry picking and was known to take Buddy on long rides in the U.P. in search of blueberries. Throughout her later years, she still maintained a close connection to her friends in Escanaba — especially those from St. Patrick’s Church and those she worked with at Michigan Bell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph Johnson and Mary Kehoe; stepfather, Jack Kehoe; husband, Buddy LeDuc; and a sister, Elaine Erickson. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Jeffrey) Brogley and her granddaughter, Sophia, of Northville, many nieces and nephews, as well as her dear Michigan Bell Telephone friends, including Louise (Lou), Colleen, Millie, and Lynn of Escanaba. It was many an evening where Anna Mae and Lou could be found on the phone with one another cultivating a beautiful friendship of almost 90 years.

Anna Mae will be remembered for her kindness and enduring love, and her legacy will live on with her family and all that were fortunate to have known her. She leaves behind a void that can never truly be filled.
