Jean L. Rose
QUINNESEC — Jean L. Rose, 93, of Quinnesec passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson in Iron Mountain.
Jean was born March 10, 1930, in Gladstone, Mich., daughter of the late William and Mima (Moore) Jones. She graduated from Escanaba High School in 1948 and married Warren Rose that same year; he preceded her in death in 1999. An avid Kingsford Flivver fan, Jean worked in food services for Breitung Township Schools and was known as the “Candy Lady.” She loved her collection of angels, and she especially loved her family, her grandchildren, and her church. Jean was a member of the Quinnesec United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
Jean is survived by her sons, Calvin (Fay) Rose, Mark (Debbie) Rose and Matthew (Laura) Rose; her daughter, Melissa (Jim) Jones; nine grandchildren, Noah, Nathan, Nicholas, Ashley, Matthew, Austin, Alyssa, Jessica and Leanne; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Gertrude Johnson, Jessie Woodward, Esther Branthaver, Arlene Artley and Joyce Derouin; two brothers, William Jones, Jr. and Edward Crimmons-Jones; and a great-grandchild, Sidney.
Visitation will be 12 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain with a funeral service to follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Walter Reichle officiating. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. EST on Thursday, July 13 at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Escanaba.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, the Dickinson County Cancer Unit Loan Closet, Riverside Bible Camp, or the Quinnesec United Methodist Church.
