Gary K. Carter

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Gary K. Carter passed away peacefully on Monday, July 10, 2023 at age 84.

Beloved husband of Violet (nee Anderson) for 65 years. Loving father of Sandra (Richard) Haase and Michael (Tammy) Carter. Loving grandpa of Tyler, Jessica, Andrew, Heather, Dustin, Devin, Dakota, Dyllan and great-grandpa of Lynette. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Eunice, daughter Dianna (Dee) Schultz and his brothers, Wayne and Robert. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Gary was born and raised in Escanaba, Michigan. He joined the Navy after high school at 18 years old. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he then settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he and his wife Violet raised their family.

Gary was always busy, keeping his yard immaculate and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a Brewers fan and a huge Green Bay Packer fan, proudly displaying his tattoo. Gary was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the Destroyer USS Laffey DD724.

Memorial Gathering will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 7001 West Brown Deer Road, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday, July 22nd from 12:00 PM – 1:45 PM with Service to follow at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations appreciated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
