GREEN VALLEY, Ariz. -- Joycelyn Ann Bash, a long-term resident of Bark River, died in Green Valley, Arizona, on Jan 31, 2023. Although she believed Upper Michigan to be her home, she lived in Arizona for the past several years. Joycelyn was born on October 24, 1932, in Saginaw, Mich., to Marguerite Schulz Helm and Herbert Dorr of Saginaw. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1950 and St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1953. On November 21, 1953, she married Dr. Theodore Bash of Austin, Pennsylvania. Theodore died in 1998.

Joycelyn's survivors include three sons, Robert Bash, Dr. Theodore Bash (Patti), and retired Dr. James Bash (Kathy). Also included are three grandchildren, Haley, Katy, and Anthony; a half-brother, Ed Helm (Georgene), and several nieces and nephews.  Joycelyn was preceded in death by her father in 1949, sister Delores Dorr Barnhart in 1968, stepfather Ed Helm in 1992, husband in 1998, and mother in 1999.

Joycelyn had an uplifting, infectious personality and quickly made lasting friendships wherever she went. She was always there when friends and family were in need. Joycelyn, a generous person, was involved in various charities. Even as her health failed, she continued to lend a helping hand. Those who knew Joycelyn are welcome to attend a memorial mass in her honor at the St. Anne Catholic Church in Escanaba at 11 a.m. on May 26. At 12:30 p.m., there will be a ceremony at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells. Plans for meeting after the events will be announced at the mass.
