Carol J. LaFave

ESCANABA — Carol J. LaFave, 87, of Escanaba, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023, at West Allis Memorial Hospital in West Allis, Wis.

She was born on July 17, 1935, in Escanaba, Mich., daughter of Edward and Irene (Dupont) LaMarche.  Carol graduated from St. Joseph High School in Escanaba and has been a lifelong resident of this community.

On February 24, 2010, Carol married Arthur LaFave in Escanaba.

Carol was employed at Bishop Noa Home for many years as a secretary.

She enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Highland Golf Club.  Cooking, gardening, and hosting family gatherings were also among her favorite things to do.  Carol loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  An active member of Holy Family Church, she taught catechism and helped with youth group for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur LaFave of Escanaba; children, Julie (Dan) Draeger of Milwaukee, Wis., Susan (Will) LaFave of Escanaba, Mark (Sandra) Hereau of Escanaba; grandchildren, David (Olivia) and Matthew Hereau, Sara Miller, Brian (Kristin) LaFave, Joshua (Daria) LaFave, Nicholas (Rebecca) Draeger, Eric (Laurie) Draeger, Kelly Draeger, Blake (Abby) Hereau and Kevin Hereau; 13 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Geraldine Multerer, Loraine Cousineau, and LaVergne Hereau.

In addition to her parents, Edward and Irene La Marche, she was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Hereau.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, June  at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock.  A meal will immediately follow in the church hall.

Burial will take place in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
