Kenneth W. ‘Ken’ Kelloniemi

CORNELL — Kenneth W. “Ken” Kelloniemi, 83, of Cornell, passed away Thursday morning, April 27, 2023, at his home following a brief illness.

He was born on December 8, 1939, in Watson, son of Hjalmer and Ruth (Scheer) Kelloniemi. Ken was raised in Watson until the age of 14. He graduated from Escanaba High School, class of 1958.

On April 23, 1966, Ken married the love of his life, the former Darlene Cousineau at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Escanaba.

Ken worked for Valmet, retiring in 2001.

He was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus Council #640 and of Holy Family Church in Flat Rock. Ken also volunteered for St. Vincent de Paul Society for many years.

Ken took pride in taking care of his truck and always having it shine. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, singing, and loved watching his grandchildren play in their sporting events. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.

Survivors include his two children, Don (Melanie) Kelloniemi of Cornell and Kris (Brent) Krutina of Escanaba; grandchildren, Kyle, Karson, and Kenzie Krutina and David and Kevin Kelloniemi; sisters, Jean (Gerald) Miron of Cornell, Mich. and Carol Williams of Escanaba; brother-in-law, Mike (Connie) Cousineau of Escanaba; sister-in-law, Leta Cousineau of Green Bay; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Darlene; he was preceded in death by an infant son, David Kelloniemi; daughter-in-law, Tina Kelloniemi; brother, Donald Kelloniemi; his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Joyce Cousineau; and brother-in-law, Pat Cousineau.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 2 from 3 – 7 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St. Escanaba. The Knights of Columbus will have the Rosary at the conclusion of the visitation at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock with Rev. Sebastian Chacko officiating. A meal will immediately follow in the church hall.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
