Dorothy Marie Denoo
ESCANABA — Dorothy Marie Denoo, 96, of Escanaba, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Bishop Noa Home.
She was born on October 14, 1926 in Escanaba, daughter to Arthur and Malvina (Derouin) Caron. Dorothy graduated from Escanaba High School, class of 1945 and was a lifelong resident of this community.
On June 21, 1947, the former Dorothy Caron married Walter M. Denoo in Escanaba. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1995.
In her younger years, Dorothy worked cleaning homes, at the post office and for a time in Chicago with the IRS. Following the birth of her children Dorothy was a dedicated wife, mom and homemaker who enjoyed being at home to raise her family. She later worked for UPCAP, the Hiawatha National Forest Service and in her later years worked as a paid docent at the Delta County Historical Museum until her retirement in 2004.
She was a lifetime member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
In her lifetime Dorothy enjoyed ballroom dancing at the Aragon Ballroom, listening to Hawaiian and Country music, reading great books, cooking and baking homemade bread, traveling and was an avid fan of Lawrence Welk and the Wheel of Fortune.
Among survivors are her brother, Richard (Dick) Caron and her children, Kerry, Susan, Bob, and Annette (Thompson) Denoo and Annette’s spouse Larry Thompson; grandchildren include, Allen, Ron, and Deanna (Elson) Denoo; great-grandchildren, Chase, Carson, Preston Denoo; Brenden and Logan Comstock and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to her husband, Walter; she was preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur, Phillip, Edward and Wayne; and sisters, Dolly and Carol.
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 29 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon at St. Thomas the Apostle Church with Rev. Rick Courier officiating.
Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
