Lori Ann Gembel

FAYETTE — Lori Ann Gembel, age 64, of Fayette, Mich., passed away unexpectedly on March 21, 2023, while visiting Pine Island, Fla. Lori was born on July 12, 1958 in Manistique, Mich., the daughter of Sidney and Beverly (Cousineau) Lucas. She attended school at Big Bay de Noc, graduating with the class of 1976.

On August 28, 1976, she married Dave L. Gembel at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Garden, Mich. Together she and Dave raised three children while building their concrete and excavating business D&L Gembel and Sons. She was a lifelong resident of Fayette. Lori was inspiringly active, who gave all her time and energy to others without reserve.

Lori loved spending time with her family, she was a one-of-a-kind Grandma, who had a special bond with Casey and Mason, always up for any adventure. She looked forward to hosting gatherings of family and friends, especially an annual family reunion at her Sac Bay home.

Lori loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and enjoying nature with her family. She had many hobbies she enjoyed, which included raising animals on her hobby farm, beekeeping, gardening, and tending to their orchard.

She was active in 4-H with her grandson, was an excellent cook, and loved her visits to Florida with her husband, where they were currently building a winter home.

Lori is survived by her husband Dave Gembel Sr. of Fayette, Mich.I; sons Adam (Brenda) Gembel of Fayette, Mich., Nathan (Carmen) Gembel of Garden, Mich., and Dave Gembel Jr. of Green Bay, Wis.; brothers Rodney (Susanne) Lucas of Fayette, Mich., Scott (Laura) Lucas of Garden, Mich., and John (Gloria) Lucas of Menominee, Mich.; sisters Linda (Marshall) Patz of Escanaba, Mich., Lisa (John) Cyrowski of Garden, Mich., and Kristin (Kevin) Peterson of Fairport, Mich.; mother-in-law Irene Gembel of Fayette, Mich.; brothers-in-law, Thomas Jeffery Gembel of Harvey, Mich., Ben Peterson Fairport, Mich.; grandchildren, Casey and Mason Gembel; step-grandchildren, Gary, Emily and Emma Sedenquist; Erica Schubert and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Sidney and Beverly Lucas, her sister Lana Peterson, her father-in-law Thomas Gembel, nephew Ethan Cyrowski and niece Martha Jean Peterson.

In memory of Lori please plant a flower or other planting that you would enjoy watching grow. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Garden, Mich. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow with Fr.
