Laura A. Guindon

She was born on November 9, 1954 in Blue Island, Ill., the daughter of Gilbert J. and Judith A. (Derouin) Guindon. Laura was raised in Illinois and graduated from James B. Conant High School. She relocated to the Escanaba area in 1972.

In 1991, Laura began working for both Dobber’s Pasties and Christian Park. After 28 years, she retired in 2019.

She enjoyed reading good books and gardening. She particularly liked perennial gardening and for many years had Golden Retriever dogs. Laura loved working in the soil and playing with her four-legged companions, considering both to be wonderful outlets for relieving stress.

Laura was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was thankful for the support system she found through the church’s congregation. She was also incredibly grateful to her family who continuously went above and beyond for her throughout her illness.

She is survived by her siblings, Gail (Ken) Prechodko, Matt (Barb) Guindon, and Julie (Mike) Smith; sister-in-law, Joyce Guindon; and nieces and nephews, Marc (Vicki) Prechodko, Amy (Dan) Glasure, Jessica (Jordan) Povich, Wendy (Nick) Chouinard, Jordan Guindon, Paul (Rachel) Guindon, Luke (Meagan) Guindon, Joseph (Holly) Guindon, AnnMarie (Nick) Folcik, Jenna Smith, and Caitlin Smith.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Judith Guindon; brother, Gary Guindon; and an infant brother, Paul Guindon.

In keeping with her wishes, no services will be held.

Inurnment will take place this spring in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Schaffer.
