ESCANABA — Jessie Lou Leclaire age, 82, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully in her home after a long battle with cancer on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Jessie was born on July 25, 1940, in Marquette, Mich., to William John and Edna (Derusha) Quantz. Jessie grew up in Sands, Mich., and later graduated from Gwinn High School as part of the 1959 class.
Jessie was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She loved her family above everything else. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought so much joy to her life. Many would describe her as caring, giving, and always appreciative. She was known for her caring heart and giving nature.
During Jessie’s life she worked many jobs, but her favorite was working at Woolworth’s in Escanaba. She also worked for the Soo Tribe among spending many years as a homemaker. She devoted much of her adulthood to motherhood. In the later years she found a love for Bingo. Jessie loved playing Bingo at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba. She often spoke of the ugly sweater contest she won at St. Thomas. It became one of her favorite memories. She also enjoyed reading, watching horror movies, and collecting trinkets.
Jessie was loved beyond measure and will be missed deeply.
Jessie is survived by her sons, William Gibson (Cindy) of New Berlin, Wis., Paul Eaton (Chris) of Colorado, and Bobby Lublow of Escanaba, Mich.; her daughter, Laurie Lublow of Escanaba, Mich.; daughter-in-law, Debra Gibson of Gladstone, Mich.; step-siblings, Sue (Kess) Booker and Lillian (Mike) Halley, Henry (Karen) Heline, and Johnnie (Patsy) Heline; three sisters-in-law, Loretta (Tom) Schindler, Lorraine (Bill) Trudell, and Lucille Newcomb; ten grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sons, John Gibson and Steven Gibson (Debra); three brothers, Robert Quantz, James Quantz, and Louis Quantz; and sister, Mary (Bob) Swanke.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, December 5, 2022, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Jessie will follow at 2 p.m., Monday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Mike LeBeau officiating.
