James Todd Green

STONINGTON — James Todd Green, age 48, of Stonington, passed away at the family camp in Stonington, Mich. on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 in the loving care of his family. Todd was born on March 16, 1974 in Escanaba, the son of the late James “Jim” and Priscilla (West) Green. Todd attended Escanaba High School where he was a 1992 graduate and went on to attend Michigan Technological University, earning a bachelor’s of science degree in forestry in 1996.

He married the former Christie LaBay on July 14, 2001 and together they made a home and raised a family in Bark River and Stonington. He was the proud father of his three children.

Together with his business partner, Dean Francis, he owned and operated Upper Michigan Land Management & Wildlife Services since 1998.

Never venturing far from his hunting and fishing camp on the Stonington Peninsula, Todd spent most of his free time teaching his children how to land and clean smallmouth bass, hunt whitetail on the back forty, grow and harvest a garden, mill and plane lumber, boil maple syrup, smoke sausage, tend a wood stove, take a sauna, properly care for a firearm, drive a tractor, grill a steak, tell a good joke, honor their elders, and love their mother.

He is survived by his wife, Christie Green of Stonington; three children, James, Isabelle, and Jeb of Stonington; mother, Priscilla Green of Escanaba; sisters, Jill (Kirk) Pedersen of Warrensburg, MO, and Jodi (John) Lehman of Chassell, Mich.; mother-in-law, Carole LaBay; father-in-law, Sylevester (Elizabeth)LaBay; in-laws, Jon (Natalie) LaBay, and Brad (Angie) LaBay; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Green. 

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October 29, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Todd will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Todd’s uncle, Rev. Charles West officiating.
