Allan Thomas Oldenburg
ESCANABA — Beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Allan Thomas Oldenburg, age 59, passed away at his home in Escanaba, Michigan during the early morning hours of Monday, October 10, 2022.
Born June 11, 1963 in Detroit, Michigan, Allan was the son of Thomas Oldenburg and Janice Minthorn (Brundle). He would meet the love of his life, Renee, in 1979. The two wed September 25, 1982 in a ceremony held in Union Lake, Michigan. During their 40-year marriage, they would have three children, nine grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Allan was known for his love of family, loyalty to his friends and his sense of humor. He was a lover of rock music. Led Zeppelin, The Who and Rush were a few of his favorite bands. Allan was an avid hunter and fisherman as well as a very skilled pool player. A lifelong Detroit sports fan, Allan enjoyed following the Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings.
Allan was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Oldenburg; mother and stepfather, Janice and Roger Minthorn; in addition to both of his paternal and maternal grandparents.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Renee; brothers, Danny and Ed Oldenburg; stepbrother, Eric Minthorn; stepsister, Tara Minthorn; daughter, Jennifer (Mike) Gerou; sons, Lucas and Matthew (Aleasha Bailey) Oldenburg; grandchildren, Hailey, Christopher, Scotty, Sean, Leila and Jonah Oldenburg, Holly, Colton and Janessa Gerou; and great-granddaughter, Kallie Peterson. Along with his family listed above, Allan is also survived by dozens of nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and his faithful GoldenDoodle, Yooper.
With respect to his final wishes, no funeral service will be held. Instead, a Celebration of Life Ceremony will be announced on a later date.
