Jack loved “Beans” with all he had. Their love story began in high school. Since then, they have been best friends, caring confidants, and true soulmates. Together they created a beautiful family filled with joy. Jack loved being a dad, and he was great at it. As a grandfather and great-grandfather, he enjoyed hearing about each kid’s latest accomplishment and life happenings.

Jack’s kind and welcoming personality made people want to be around him. He was generous with his time, was the best listener, and used his strong faith to guide him through life. Anyone who knew Jack has a meaningful memory to look back on because you were important to him.

Jack was born on March 7, 1932, in Escanaba, Michigan. He graduated from St. Joe High School in 1950 and went on to Vanderbilt University. While at Vanderbilt, Jack played defensive end on the football team, was a member of Beta Theta Pi, a member of the Varsity Club, and was a wonderful friend to many. He graduated in 1954 with a degree in business administration. Following his graduation, Jack married Bernice. He entered his professional career after spending two years in the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant. Jack and Bernice settled in Lansing, Michigan, and grew their family. Appointed the chief deputy director of workers’ compensation for the State of Michigan, Jack spent his professional years making an impact on workers’ compensation law throughout the state. As a service to his church, community, and industry, Jack participated in many organizations, including Catholic Social Services-President, Capital area United Way, Easter Seal Association, IAIABC-President, Meals on Wheels, and he never passed up a Kool-Aid stand.

Jack left a lasting impact on this world through his personal accomplishments and the legacy he left through his family. His loss is felt in the hearts of many, and his hugs will be forever missed.
