BYRON CENTER, Mich. — Robert Thomas Diedrich, age 64, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 3, 2022. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Louis Diedrich. He will be remembered and deeply missed by his mother, Louise Diedrich; children, Jessica Hamacher (Brian) and Ashley Johnson (Tyler); siblings, Ann Trusock (Mark), John Diedrich (Pat) and David Diedrich (Cindy); two grandchildren, Landon Johnson, and Ryleigh Hamacher; lifelong, friend Judd Hall; and his many nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Bob grew up in Escanaba and graduated from Escanaba High School. He graduated from Western Michigan University with a BBA and Lake Superior State University with a BSA. He worked in restaurant and retail management throughout his career. Bob was an enthusiastic sports fan, especially the Los Angeles Lakers and the Green Bay Packers. For as much as he loved his favorite sports teams, he loved his daughters and grandchildren even more. He loved playing cribbage, a family favorite and was always the life of the party. Bob always had a fighting spirit, he survived a near fatal car crash in 1982 and fought his disease up until his final moments. He will always be remembered as a loving son, father, brother, and papa.

Visitation with friends and relatives will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St., Byron Center, MI 49315. A celebration of Bob’s life will commence at 12 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2022, with visitation one hour prior starting at 11 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, Byron Center, Mich. Fr. Chuck Fischer will be officiating. In honor of Bob and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Escanaba Scholarship Program (Memo-The Louis Diedrich Teacher Education Scholarship), 500 S. Lincoln Rd. Escanaba, MI. Interment will be at Dutton Cemetery.
