June Delores Smith

June was born on November 1, 1942 to John and Stella (Gawlik) Wieciech in Chicago, Ill.

In 1946, her parents moved from Chicago to the farm homestead in Perronville, Mich. where she attended grade school and then junior high school in Bark River, Mich. She was a 1961 graduate of Holy Name High School, Escanaba, Mich.

After graduation, she left for Chicago where she worked at Chicago Motor Club as a customer care representative. She then worked at First Federal Bank as a banker and then at Engis as a lab technician operating an electron microscope. On September 9, 1967, she married Mike Smith. Two and a half years later, they welcomed their son, Michael and she became a full-time mom. Five years later, they moved to the Netherlands for Mike’s work and were able to travel all over Europe and experience many different cultures. After three years, they moved to Houston, Texas, and remained in the area.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Stella; her brothers-in-law, Edward (Irene)Blahnik and Gary (Cynthia) Poynter.

She is survived by her husband Mike, Fulshear, Texas and son Michael (Shelly), Fulshear, Texas and sisters, Ann (Richard) LaBuda, Chicago, Ill., Dorothy (Thomas) Gorski, Lombard, Ill., Helen (Charles) McKittrick, Colleyville, Texas, Irene (John) Jorasz, Perronville, Mich., Cynthia Poynter, Burbank, Ill., Mary (John) Pappalardo, Palos Hills, Ill., Frances, Perronville, Mich. and brother, Daniel, Perronville, Mich. and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Bark River, Mich. and a celebration of life in her honor around the Fourth of July. Final arrangements are not complete at this time.
