Rosalyn Elizabeth Groves
RAPID RIVER — Rosalyn Elizabeth Groves, age 80 of Rapid River, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2021, at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique. She was born on February 5, 1941, in Detroit, Mich. the daughter of Floyd M. and Ann M. (Youngerman) Raths. She attended school in Berkley, Mich. and graduated with the class of 1959. She obtained her associates degree from Loyola University of New Orleans.
Rosalyn married the love of her life Gary D. Groves in Berkley, Mich. on October 17, 1959. Rosalyn worked several years for the United States Army. She and her husband moved to Rapid River in 1980 from Grand Rapids. She served as the religious education coordinator for Family Life Ministries for the Diocese of Marquette for many years. Some of Rosalyn’s favorite activities were cooking, reading, doing outside activities such as canoeing, hiking, kayaking, tending to her flower gardens and traveling. She and her husband were able to see of the world together, all the way from China to Turkey. They enjoyed taking cruises to see the world.
Rosalyn is survived by her husband, Gary Groves of Rapid River, Mich.; son, Mark (Barbara) Groves of DeWitt, Mich.; daughter Suzanne (James) Yellowtail of Eugene, Ore.; grandchildren, Jessica Groves, Kimberly Groves, Tristan Yellowtail, Megan Yellowtail and Morgan Yellowtail. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Floyd Rath Jr.
