Sally A. (Hudson) Young

ESCANABA — Sally A. (Hudson) Young, 40, of Escanaba, passed away Thursday evening, November 25, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital.

She was born on September 21, 1981 in Escanaba, Mich., daughter of Jean Hudson. In her younger years, Sally attended Bark River School and then Gladstone, graduating in 2000 from Gladstone High School. She was proud of her associate degree that she earned at Bay College.

The importance of working hard was instilled in Sally at a young age. Starting at the age of 12 she did newspaper delivery for the Daily Press, worked at taco bell and other various small jobs then was employed at the Island Resort and Casino for 12 years. In the final years of employment there she was the shift manager of the cashier cage. In 2020, in her last year at the casino, Sally also worked part time at Elmer’s County Market. In 2020 she started her career with Peninsula Federal Credit Union and soon became a senior bank teller. She was passionate about helping people and loved her co-workers and her job.

To meet Sally was to love her. She was very family orientated and truly was the glue of her family. Sally was the best auntie and she loved her nieces and nephew with all of her heart and they brought her so much joy. Being the guardian to her niece, Hazel, was an honor to Sally.

Sally enjoyed watching the Golden Girls. Shopping for her family and friends was her passion. Christmas was her favorite time of year.

Among survivors are her mother, Jean Hudson; siblings, Rachel A. Hudson, Stephanie A. Hudson, and Andrew J. Hudson; nieces, Hazel, Lilli, Charlie and nephews, Arcamedies and Caleb; and many aunts, uncles, cousins as well as her many friends; and her ex-husband, John Young and his family

Sally was preceded in death by her dog, Buckshot; grandparents, Ira and Gladys Hudson; uncles, Thomas C. Elegeert and James Hudson; auntie, Patty Hudson; cousin, Josie Hudson; and father-in-law, John Young Sr.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 1 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St. in Escanaba. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Paul Culbertson officiating.

Burial will take place in West Ford River Cemetery.
