Ione Elizabeth Laurich

Ione was born to Gerrie Ellis and Elsie (Gray) Ellis in Trenary, Michigan on September 27, 1926. She graduated from Trenary High School in 1944 and married Louis Laurich on October 25, 1948. Louie preceded her in death in October of 1999.

Ione is survived by her daughters, Linda (Mike) Gagnon of Chassell, Michigan and Leanne (Bill) Soumis of Pottstown, Pennsylvania; her grandsons, Jason (Heather) Gagnon, Jeremy (Missy) Gagnon, Jake (Dinara) Soumis, Ben Soumis and Gabe (Lorena) Soumis; great-grandchildren, Braden, Cameron and Khloe Gagnon, Nickolai, Alexander, Maxsim, Luca, and Logan Soumis; special nephew, Rod (Yo) Grainger; and almost a son, Gary (Gail) Hall.

Ione was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, James and William Ellis.

Ione lived for her grandsons. She was Granny to some and Gramma to others. When they presented her with great-grandbabies and she became G-Gma, she was ecstatic. She was always ready to share a picture or a story about her amazing boys, their wives and children.

Her daughters would like to thank her old friends from Trenary who did not forget her when, due to ill health, she was forced to leave her old stomping grounds and move to Houghton. In her heart, she never left Trenary.

At Ione’s request, there will be no services. A private burial will take place at a future time.
