Margaret Elorine ‘Ellie’ Mott

BARK RIVER — Margaret Elorine “Ellie” Mott, 90, of Bark River, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family Friday, October 8, 2021.

Ellie was born on November 11, 1930, her parents were Harold who was Irish and Leona (Kaiser) DeLoughary who was English/German. Ellie was the second of six children raised on a family dairy farm in Eustis and graduated from Harris High School, class on 1947.

On May 20, 1950 Ellie married Raymond Mott at Sacred Heart Church in Schaffer. They had 14 children, seven boys and seven girls. They started their family living in Perronville, and later relocated to Auburndale, Fla., where they lived seasonally for 20 years before settling into their current home in Bark River.

Later in life Ellie went to Polk Community College to become a nurse. She worked at Winter Haven Hospital in Winter Haven, Fla. and later retired as a nurse from Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.

She was an active participant in her local parishes, Sacred Heart, Schaffer; St Michael’s, Perronville; St Joseph’s, Lakeland, Fla. and St Elizabeth Ann Seton, Bark River. Ellie loved to bake, known for the best buns in town! Any time of day she was ready and pleased to feed an army of people her famous pancakes (crepes) of course topped with DeLoughary Sugar Bush Maple syrup (now known as Olsen Brother’s Sugar Bush). Sewing and Knitting were hobbies of hers, grandchildren got a unique hand knitted zipper-up-the-back coat sized to them every year with matching poochkis (socks) as she called them. Playing bingo with her family and friends was another one of her favorite past times. Her passion for family was so deep, after having a quiverfull of 14 children they launched off their arrows and the family tree grew by 35 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
