GLADSTONE — Floyd L. Swift, age 96, of Gladstone passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.

Floyd was born April 17, 1925 in St. Jacques, Michigan, the son of Archie and Henrietta (Zimmerman) Swift. At 6 months of age, his family moved to Gladstone and he has resided there ever since. He graduated from the Gladstone High School in 1944. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Floyd worked for the railroad for 38 years until he retired from Chicago North Western Railroad in 1988. On June 28, 1997 he was united in marriage to Teresa DeMay at the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone. Floyd enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a HAM Radio operator with the call sign KA8WOG. He was a member of the Delta Amateur Radio Club, Gladstone Yacht Club, Gladstone Golf Club, Gladstone American Legion Post 71 and the Marine Corps League.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Teresa; children, Glen (Cheryl) Swift of Milwaukee, Wis. and Tom (Fran) Swift of Holland, Mich.; stepchildren, Bob (Ginny) Kennedy of Neenah, Wis., Mike Kennedy of Gladstone, Patty (Tom) Blanchette of Norway and Mary (Matt) Pollard of Faithorn; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Swift, parents, brothers, Stanley, Marvin and Lawrence and sisters, Albina Smith, Edna Hempkin and Florence Swift.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
