Dr. Roger ‘Marty’ Reider Martinsen

OCALA, Fla. — Dr. Roger “Marty” Reider Martinsen, passed away July 27, 2021. He was born in Duluth, Minn. He served in the United States Air Force as an Airman Combat Cameraman. Marty received his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Education from the University of Georgia. He received his Doctorate in Education from Nova University of Florida. A resident of Ocala, Fla. for over 50 years, he has served as a professor at Central Florida Community/State College and as Head Baseball Coach from 1969 through 2002. As a coach, he went on to recruit hundreds of players, many of whom went on to play professional baseball. He was inducted into the Florida ­Colleges Activities / ­­­Baseball Hall of Fame in 2002. He was known by his family as “Saint Marty” for his patience, kindness, and honesty. He is survived by his wife, Emily, MSW, LCSW LMFT, PhD; two children, Kim UF Grad, MS PA South University, and Sooki, UF Grad, UCF MFA; daughter-in-law, Suzie, MS PA South University; two grandsons, Max and Miles; and sister, Donna, and brother-in-law, Bob Schultz.

A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, August 15, 2021, 3 p.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, SE 17 St Ocala, FL.

Masses are, additionally, to be scheduled in Milwaukee, Wis. and Escanaba, Mich.
