Rose M. Winker

ESCANABA — Rose M. Winker, 81, Escanaba, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday July 25, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born on November 11, 1939 in Escanaba, daughter of the late Lawrence and Roseanna “Rose” (Young) Gelina. On June 27, 1959 she married the late David Winker at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba.

Rose was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Tigers, watching boxing and Nascar. She was very involved with the women’s bowling league. Rose was known for her time she volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul and helping with many different activities at St. Anthony’s Church. She also greatly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Rose is survived by her three children: Jim (Mary) Winker, Terry (John) Lemire and Dan (Sue) Winker, two step-siblings, seven grandchildren: Jamel, Bryan, Jon, Jenni, Amber, Trisha and Theresa, eight great-grandchildren: Makenzy, Kaia, Alex, Tyler, Kali, Khallie, Rory and Jacob Jr., as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2002, and three brothers: Clarence, Alfred and Gerald Gelina.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Church in Wells with Fr. Rick Courier officiating. Burial will follow Mass in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
