Diane Marie McAlpine

Born October 11, 1948, in Marinette, Wisconsin, a daughter of Joseph and Eleanor (Sheteck) Preewrocki, Diane was raised in Menominee and Daggett. She attended the Birch Creek Grade School and graduated from Menominee High School, Class of 1967. In the 1970s, Diane moved to Negaunee where she later met her future husband, Bill. On July 25, 1997, Diane was united in marriage to William H. McAlpine, in Marquette, with their wedding celebration in Daggett. The couple were a great match and made their home in Skandia where they enjoyed living in the woods, surrounded by nature. They loved the area, socializing with friends, and their house was always open and welcoming. Favorite past times were watching and feeding the birds that frequented her yard, her favorite being owls.

Bill and Diane often loaded their camper and headed to Highway 13 or Shakey Lakes. They also enjoyed riding their Harley Davidson, going out to dinner on Friday evenings either to Mean Gene’s on M-28 or for a fish fry at Jack’!s Hideaway in Gwinn. Bill enjoyed collecting old tractors and entering tractor pulling contests, and the family often came along. The couple enjoyed being together dancing and attempted to get the kids to join in. Aside from living in the country, Diane simply loved her roles of wife, stepmom, and homemaker. She loved her husband and caring for him, loved cooking for the family, and made her home (complete with her owl collection) a place where many wonderful memories were created for their children. Diane was a hard worker and kept herself busy. Rising at 4 a.m. in the morning, Diane began her day and stayed busy throughout the day until going to bed early. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, cooking, laying out in the sun to “bake” spoiling her cats rotten, spending time with her friends. She was always busy, busy, busy!

Diane is survived by her mother, Eleanor; stepsons, Gus (Brenda) McAlpine and Aaron McAlpine; stepdaughter, Becky (Rob) Randall; grandchildren, Jerrika McAlpine, Brandon McAlpine, Mikaila McAlpine, Makenzie McAlpine, and Ryan Randall; sisters, Dona (Ray) Madsen and Dorene (Kip Schultz) Preewrocki; and brother, Dale (Wanda) Preewrocki.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William McAlpine; her father, Joseph; and a brother, David Preewrocki.

Honoring Diane’s request, a family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
