CORNELL — Fredrick Earl Ring, age 77, of Cornell, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, Wis. He was born on April 20, 1943, in Escanaba, the son of John and Ruth (Forsman) Ring. Fred attended grade school in Cornell and was a 1961 graduate of Escanaba High School. Following graduation, he furthered his education at a technical college. He then helped his father, John Ring, with his local heating and plumbing business. Fred was drafted into the U.S. Navy on May 29, 1968, and served his country until he was honorably discharged on May 28, 1974. He married the former Mary Beth Heslip in 1969 and together raised three daughters, Nancy, Charlotte, and Linda. Fred was employed by Robinson Furniture Company and later Escan Corporation until working as an over-the-road truck driver for John Veriha Trucking until his retirement. Fred received his mechanic certificate as master mechanic at Bay de Noc Community College. He greatly enjoyed spending time outdoors – especially hunting. He also liked tinkering and working on old cars.

Fredrick Earl Ring is survived by his three daughters, Nancy Ring of Perronville, Mich., Charlotte (Chris) Hunt of Hillsborough, N.J., and Linda Peterson (Lester Sexton) of Gladstone; eight grandchildren, Cory LaBonte, Zachary Sexton, Daniel Sexton, Samantha Sexton, Jennifer Hunt, Steven Hunt, Isabella Ring, and Jordan Ring; one sister, Mary Lou (Michael) Stefanski of Gwinn; lifetime partner, Michelle Jarvey; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Fredrick was preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Ring.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, March 5, 2021, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Military Honors will be conducted 1 p.m., Friday, by the Delta County Veterans Council in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel followed by the funeral services with Rev. Stephen Cowen officiating.
