John L. Weissert
ESCANABA – John L. Weissert, 80, of Escanaba, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Haines City Health Care in Florida.
He was born in Ford River Township on April 8, 1940, the son of William and Martha (Fenske) Weissert. John was raised in Escanaba and attended Escanaba High School.
After high school John entered the U.S. Navy. He was a 20-year veteran and also worked at the Navy Veterans Hospital for an additional 20 years.
John married the former Sylvia Belongie. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughter, Pamela (Joe) Orlando of South Paris, ME; son, Collin (Vera) Belongie of Madison, WI; siblings, Marcella Tryan and Jean Weissert both of Escanaba; and sister-in-law, Pearl Bowell in Florida.
John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sylvia; daughter, Lynn Servant; and siblings, June Tryan, Dan Weissert, Louise Hansen, Elmer Weissert, William Weissert, and Maida Hansen.
In keeping with John’s wishes no services will be held.
