Freda T. Whitlow

A native of Escanaba, Freda was born on November 1, 1927, the daughter of Philip and Rose (LaFreniere) Baribeau. Freda graduated from Escanaba High School and was employed at the Escanaba Paper Company after high school for 10 years. 

On, June 6, 1953, Freda married Leo Whitlow in Escanaba, he preceded her in death.

She enjoyed bowling, golf, playing bridge and traveling. Freda was the Mohawk women’s golf champion for several years. Her memberships included the Emblem Club, where she was the past president of the Ohio Clubs, Y-Wives and the Mohawk Golf Club.

Survivors include her son, John Whitlow; grandson, Chris (Mary) Potteiger Sr. all of Tiffin, Ohio; granddaughter, Kirsten Whitlow of Rutherford N.J.; great granddaughters, Skylynn Doss of Carey, Ohio, Teresa Doss and Dayle Doss both of Escanaba; great-grandson, Chris Potteiger Jr. of Findlay, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.

Freda was preceded in death by her ­parents; husband, Leo; daughter, Virginia “Ginny” (Charlie) Adams; granddaughter, Megan Doss; brothers, Ernest (Helen), William (Elaine), John “Jack” (Miriam) and infant brother, George Baribeau; sisters, Rose (Louis) Johnson, Violet (John) Meyers, Irene (Paul) Cole, Emma (Steve) Clairmont, Agnes Baribeau and Virginia (Frank) Schmitt.

Services will be held in the spring and announced at a later date.

Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
