Carol Sobieski

COOKS — Carol (Wolfe) Sobieski, age 87, of Cooks rejoined her loved ones on January 12, 2021. She was born in Cooks, Mich., on April 4, 1933, to the late Garland and Merilda (Popour) Wolfe.

She lived in Cooks until moving briefly after high school to Milwaukee for college, where she met her husband, Richard Sobieski. They were married on April 11, 1953. Carol enjoyed history, traveling, and spending time in her gardens. She loved her Green Bay Packers — “Go Pack Go!”

Carol was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church of Cooks and served as a member of the altar society there. She worked at Big Bay de Noc School for many years until retiring.

During this time, she filled many roles at the school such as athletic director, 4H Leader, senior class advisor, track coach, and was a “second mom” to many. She was much more than just a member of a church or a staff member at the school. She dedicated her life to the services of others and was loved by everyone she met and knew her. She is survived by her children, Richard Sobieski, Carmen (Don) Tatrow, Paul (Gail) Sobieski, Annette (Bruce) Spaulding, Sandy (Robert) Hoag; her 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; sisters, Francis Thomas and Donna Swayer; and special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Richard; brothers, Eldred, Aldin and sisters, Ivonette and Kathleen.

A private Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was said on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at St. Mary Magdalene with the Rev. Father John Essell, officiating.

Burial will take place in the spring at Inwood Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Cooks.

Fausett Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be left at their website.
