Theodore (Ted) Lauffer

MINERAL POINT, Wis. -- Theodore (Ted) Norman Lauffer, age 62, of Mineral Point, WI, passed away on December 1, 2020, in New Orleans, La. He was born July 1, 1958 in Joliet, Illinois.

Ted graduated from Dodgeville (Wis.) High School in 1976 and took over his family's dairy farm in Ridgeway, Wis., in 1989. In 1992 he married Lynnea Fehrenbach and became a father to Laura Lauffer (Eric) Meinecke and soon after to their son, Michael (Savanna Adams) Lauffer. After retiring from farming in 1997, the family lived in Perkins, MI for several years.

At the time of his death, Ted was the proud owner of Gray Dog Deli and 23 Steps Inn, the businesses he and Lynnea built together in Mineral Point, Wis. His warm friendly spirit and easy smile were a joy to all who knew him. He loved baking in the restaurant early in the morning while listening to his music and was a frequent volunteer in his community. He understood the simplicity of living life with those you love, helping others and providing caring support to family and friends. He loved traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Eleanor (Kopelman) Lauffer, his in-laws, Donald E. and Bernice Fehrenbach, his brother-in-law Donald L.Fehrenbach, and nephew, Shane Daniel Lauffer.

In addition to his wife and children, Ted is survived by his grandchildren Owen Meinecke, Grace Meinecke, and Emersyn Lauffer and his brothers Thomas (Judy) Lauffer, Timothy (Lynn) Lauffer, and Terry (Laurie) Lauffer. He is also survived by in-laws Jim and Elizabeth (Fehrenbach) Moberg, Tim Fehrenbach, and Rick Bach. Ted had many nieces and nephews he loved very much.

A life repass is planned for December 19 at Gray Dog Deli, 215 High Street, Mineral Point, WI 53565 from 1 to 4 p.m. Please respect social distancing and wear a mask while remembering Ted with those who loved him.
