ESCANABA -- Randy Joseph Godlewski, age 58, of Escanaba, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 8, 2020. He was born on October 9, 1962 in Marinette, Wis., the son of Chester "Chet" and Donna (Pepin) Godlewski. Randy was raised in Cornell and attended school in Escanaba where he played football and hockey throughout his four years in high school. He was a member of the 1980 graduating class of Escanaba High School. Following graduation, he attended Bay College for engineering and received his associate's degree. He then moved to Florida to work for his father's contracting company. On August 9, 1986, he married the former Laurie Lindberg at Central United Methodist Church in Escanaba and together raised two daughters, Holly and Katlyn. In 1988, they moved back to their hometown of Escanaba. Randy began his electrical contracting career at Rapid Electric where he was employed for about 20 years before purchasing Kobas Electric in Escanaba in 2008. He owned and operated the local business for the past 12 years, performed much of the estimating, and truly cared about all of his customers. For many years, Randy was involved with the Escanaba High School Alumni and often donated to much of their fundraisers. He also volunteered with the Delta County Search and Rescue and was involved in the Brown Field Committee. Randy was a member of the Elks Lodge #354, Wildlife Unlimited, the National Turkey Federation, the Escanaba Country Club, and former member of the Gladstone Golf Club. He was an avid bowler and played in many of the Holiday Bowl leagues, was a huge golfer, he looked forward to going to local races in Norway - he helped build stock cars, and greatly enjoyed the outdoors - especially hunting. Randy loved watching and rooting for his Chicago Bears, the Chicago Blackhawks, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and was a Michigan State University fan. He was a very hard worker and took pride in all of his projects. Randy loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.
Randy Joseph Godlewski is survived by his daughters, Holly (Jon) Johnson of Escanaba, and Katlyn (Pat) Church of Menominee, Mich.; grandchildren, Noah Boucher, Robert Johnson, and Frederic Church; parents, Donna and Charles Buckland of Escanaba; brother, Scott Buckland of WI; three nieces; one nephew; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Chet Godlewski; sister, Dawn Godlewski Mansfield; and his grandson, Emmett Johnson.
Private family visitation and funeral services will be held Saturday, December 12, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba with Pastor Bill Rafuse officiating. The Anderson Funeral Homes are assisting the Godlewski family and online remembrances can be shared at www.andersonfuneralhomes.net.
