Albert V. Gerber

MENOMINEE – Albert V. Gerber, 93, of Menominee, Mich., passed away on Monday November 23, 2020 at Aurora Medical Center – Bay Area in Marinette, Wis. Albert was born on August 8, 1927 in Menominee, Mich., to the late Alfred and Julia (Jensen) Gerber. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his discharge from the Navy, Albert attended the Michigan State Trooper Police Academy. On October 21, 1951, Albert married the former Theresa Gillis in Jackson, Mich. Theresa preceded him in death on September 21, 2000. Albert worked as a Michigan state trooper for 25 years. He later drove school bus for the Gladstone School District for 15 years. Albert was active in scouting and attained his Eagle Scout in 1945. He was later awarded the Order of the Axe, Order of the Arrow and Silver Beaver awards. Albert was very devoted to his family. He loved playing cards, watching the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. Albert was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Survivors include his daughter, Marie (Joe) Joran of Apple Valley, Minn.; son, Don Gerber of St. Peter, Minn.; two grandsons, John (Shannon) Joran and their three children, Fiona, Jax and Ian; and Paul Joran; step-grandson, Steve Seaburg; many nieces and nephews in the United States and Canada.

Albert was preceded in death by his wife; son, Neil (Brenda); and three brothers, William, Donald and Nalbert.

Due to the current pandemic, no services will be held at this time. Albert will be buried in Riverside Cemetery. Cadieu Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Harbors Retirement Community and JemCare who became like family. UP Health Systems and the staff at Bay Area Medical Center who showed such compassion and care during his final days.
