James D. Novak
JACKSONVILLE, Alabama — James (Jim) David Novak, 73, died peacefully in his home on October 7, 2020, after a 9 month battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born on April 29, 1947 to the late Victor and Marie (Lauzon) Novak. He graduated from the Rapid River High School in 1965 and soon joined the United States Air Force, later joining the United States Navy, where he remained in active duty until his retirement.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Mary Novak; children, Kim Stone and her husband Bruce, and Jay Novak and his wife Fonda; grandchildren, Camryn Stone, Tripp Stone and Nikole Novak; brothers, Tom Novak and his wife Lorraine, and Rick Novak and his wife Donna; mother-in-law, Chalcy Evans; and nieces, Tricia Magreta, Johanna Novak, Nancy Novak, Melinda (Jeremy) Jones; great-nephews, Jacob Magreta, Gabriel Magreta, Jeremy Jones, Jr. and William Jones.
A private graveside service will be held at the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim’s memory may be sent to the Colonel Robert L. Howard State Veterans Home, 7054 Veterans Parkway, Pell City, Alabama, 35125.
