Lynn Marie Cartwright

GLADSTONE, Mich. — Lynn Marie Cartwright, 65, of Gladstone, passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2020 at her home with her family by her side.

Lynn was born Aug. 14, 1955 in Escanaba, the daughter of John and Patricia (Young) Syverson. Lynn attended and graduated from Gladstone High School. Lynn was a fierce, devoted and loving mother. You could often find her with a phone to her ear talking to any one of her five children. Chatting about recipes, offering a kind ear or loving encouragement, imparting a wisdom that was concise and without prejudice, but mostly she was guiding us with her quiet strength and unyielding fortitude. Her memory, while never a replacement, will still provide us with all the same traits. Even in death, her quiet strength and gentle and kind heart will be a force not to be reckoned with as all that is good in us is because we were blessed to have her as our mother.

She also was a dedicated wife. She offered support that may have seemed imperceptible to many but offered strength when needed, love unconditionally, an ear of understanding and unparalleled patience.

She shared an unquestionable faith with her family and friends. She loved little children and worked in the nursery and taught Sunday school for many years.

Lynn passed on her love of classic movies and musicals to all her children. Some of her favorites included: Singin’ In the Rain, It’s A Wonderful Life, The Sound of Music and Calamity Jane.

She loved cooking and baking and her dishes were always family favorites. Anyone can follow a recipe, but she always added love and served them with her beautiful smile.

She had a great fondness for animals. She cared for many family dogs and cats through the years as well as chickens and ducks. The wildlife around the house loved her too. She fed the deer cracked corn and they would come out of the woods to greet her at night just by the sound of her voice.

The eternal mother, she will be missed by all creatures great and small.

In addition to her loving Husband Rick, Lynn is survived by four sons, Chad Cartwright of Green Bay, Wis., Jaime (Brittony) Cartwright of Green Bay, Wis., Jesse (Michael Combs) Cartwright of Nashville, Tenn., and Christopher (Beth) Cartwright of Davenport, Fla.; one daughter, Anna Cartwright of Gladstone, Mich.; brother, John (Kathy) Syverson of Gladstone, Mich.; two sisters, Lonnie (Bob) Moore of Neenah, Wis., and Susan (Dan) Winker of Green Bay, Wis.; 13 grandchildren, Emma, Sophia, Jocelyn, Caleb, Jacob, Alice, Isaac, Isabella, Ava, Hayden, Peyton, Lily, and Brady.

She also was an amazing aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. at New Life Church in Escanaba with Pastor Robert Derheim officiating. Lynn will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery.
