Dyrk Stuart Trout

ESCANABA — Dyrk was born into this world on Feb. 21, 1955 with spina bifida to two very determined, young parents, who were told he would not live to be a year old. Fighting all odds and multiple surgeries, he carried his love of life, pride and knowledge through his 65 years of life. Dyrk died on Sept. 19, 2020 with his parents and sister at his side.

Dyrk was born in Saginaw, Mich., moved to Escanaba in fifth grade, graduated from Escanaba High School as the Class of 1973, graduated from Bay de Noc Community College in 1975, and attended Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida to pursue a degree in psychology.

Dyrk went on to be an amazing disc jockey at WDBC (late 70s to early 80s).

Dyrk lived a full life and loved doing fun things: skateboarding, water-tobogganing, snowmobiling, working on stage crew, singing in the chorus, volunteering at the Bonafis Fine Arts Center, winning trivia matches, and traveling to visit family and friends. A great love of Dyrk’s was music, and he made sure his family and friends were informed about the music they loved – as he knew everything about all types of music. Dyrk was a big supporter of the Escanaba City Band and loved attending their concerts. His nephew and niece were the pride of his life and he loved talking to them about their adventures.

Dyrk will be missed by all in Escanaba, the town that he loved. When you are at Ludington Park, please look up while remembering his beautiful smile, laugh, personality, and positivity of life. He will be there with all of us, walking along side us, providing comfort.

Dyrk is survived by his loving and gracious parents Robert and Jeanne Trout, his adoring sister Steph (Norm) Berman of New Hampshire, his nephew Micah of Utah and niece Sarah of Vermont, his beloved dog Ozzie, aunts, uncles and cousins in Michigan, New Mexico and Colorado, and friends all across the world.

Due to COVID, a memorial service will happen at a later date when we can gather safely and share our memories of Dyrk. All will be welcomed.
