COOKS — Douglas A. Orr, age 55, of Cooks died on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich. He was born on March 7, 1965, in Manistique the son of Alfred G. and Verna C. (Desjarden) Orr, and spent the greater part of his life in the Cooks area, attending Big Bay de Noc School. On May 31, 2003, Doug married the love of his life the former Amy Jo Roberts, in Manistique. They made their home in Cooks where they raised their son Doug Jr.
Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camp life, boating and like to play cards, and hosting Texas Holdem parties; he enjoyed going to the casino on occasion as well. He had a great sense of humor, and was most happy when he was spending time with his son Dougie, and all his nieces and nephews, especially Tahlia, and Kayla.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Amy; son, Little Dougie, both of Cooks; mother, Verna; sisters, Cheryl (Patrick) Ranguette and Penny (Randy) McKay, both of Fairport; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Orr and his brother, Alfred Orr Jr.
Doug’s family has chosen to remember him privately with a celebration of life at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to establish an education fund for his son. Fausett Family Funeral Homes of Manistique and Garden are assisting the family with arrangements. Messages of condolence may be left on their website.
