ESCANABA — Dorothy J. “Jeannie” Shaffer, 65, passed away on Thursday morning, April 9, 2020, at U.P. Health Systems – Marquette.
She was born on March 31, 1955 in Bloomington, Ind., to John D. and Dorothy I. (Myers) Puckett. Jeannie was raised in Bloomington attending University High School and graduating from Iowa City High.
On Jan. 23, 1981, Jeannie married David E. Shaffer in Phoenix, Ariz.
Jeannie was a loving wife and mother. She was a wife with great faith and prayer to Pastor David Shaffer and loved her church family at Family Life Center.
She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, family gatherings, reading and writing.
Among survivors is her husband, David of Escanaba; parents, John and Dorothy Puckett of Willinston, N.D.; children, Douglas (Desiree) Shaffer, Elaine (Robert) Childress, both of Escanaba, Michael (Jessica) Shaffer of Montana, Sephani (Rudy) Salivar of Trenary, Mich., and Alexis Bittick of Escanaba; grandchildren, Brandi (Jeremy), Kaylee, Alyssa, Jonathyn, David, Brooklyn, Kayde, Silas, Caitlynn, McKayla, Cable, Bethany, Whitney, Dakota, Tyrell, Jarred, Isaac, Kendal, Kallen, Kaylinn, Marilyn, Navarro, Amya, and Ari’Ana; one great-grandchild; siblings, David (Sharon) Puckett of Williston, N.D,, Kelly (Daniel) Pool of Dallas, Texas, and Greg (Deanna) Puckett of Atlanta, Ga.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two nephews, David Puckett Jr. and Jonah Puckett; and niece, Cora Puckett.
At this time, private services will be held at the convenience of the family. A public memorial and graveside service will be announced in the future.
Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to Jeannie’s family to assist them with the funeral expenses.
