DeWayne E. ‘Dane’ Campbell II

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — DeWayne E. “Dane” Campbell II, 64, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, March 19, 2020. Dane was born on Nov. 24, 1955, in Bellefonte, Pa., the only son of the late DeWayne Sr. and Sylvia (Hollowood) Campbell. Dane graduated from Luther L Wright High School in Ironwood, Mich., in 1973. Upon graduation, he joined the Marine Corps and was stationed in California where he met and married Janie Kathy Smith in 1975. He graduated from Michigan Tech as a mechanical engineer and went on to Concordia University of Milwaukee to receive his master’s degree. Dane was employed by the Harley Davidson Corporation, Milwaukee, in the procurement department. He later moved to EMD in Chicago, Ill., and the Honeywell Corporation in both Urbana, Ohio, and Chicago, Ill. Dane was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, his dogs, having huge bonfires and enjoyed every minute he could spend with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Jo (Minnick) Campbell; sons, DeWayne (Jessica) Campbell III and Jeremy Campbell; sisters, Betty (Richard) Mickinak, Marylee (Charles) Ilminen, Vicki (Timothy) Gerou, Kimberly McMillie, Kristine (George) Heussner, and Dawna Campbell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Troy Donahoe.

A celebration of his life will be held in Ligonier, Penn., in July. The Anderson Funeral Homes are assisting the Campbell family and online condolences can be sent at www.andersonfuneralhomes.net.
