Martin A. Trottier

GLADSTONE, Mich. — Martin A. Trottier, 93, of Gladstone, Mich., passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, at Lakeview Assisted Living in Gladstone.

Martin was born Jan. 13, 1927, in Escanaba, Mich., the son of Julius and Julia (Jackson) Trottier.

Martin was a charter member of local 506 Plumbers and Pipefitters of Escanaba, Mich. He was a master plumber for 60 years and truly loved what he did.

Martin enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, and hunting birds, rabbits, and deer. He truly loved the outdoors. Whether it was making maple syrup in the spring, sitting out in the woods, or in the sugar bush in Boney Falls. Martin was the kind of person who willingly helped others. He was a good father and provider for his family. When he wasn’t working out of town, Martin was home with his family. He also liked to travel and go on road trips.

Martin is survived by: three sons, David (Michelle) Trottier of Rapid River, Mich., Tim (Tina) Trottier of Escanaba, Mich., and Ray (Connie) Trottier of Gladstone, MIich.; two daughters, Georgia (Gene) Drossart of Chilton, Wis., and Bonnie (Leo) Akins of Bonita Springs, Fla.; stepchildren, Sharon Doan, Aileen Anderson, Tommy Anderson, Jerry Anderson, Kathy Isome, Mary Anne Nein , all from the Decatur, Ill., area; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Martin is preceded in death by: wives; son, Roger Trottier; daughter, Judith Westlake; grandson, Christopher Trottier; seven sisters, Marie, Alice, Julia, Irene, Lucille, Genevieve and Dorthy ; and three brothers, Raymond, Julius, Norbert.

Family will receive friends Saturday, March 7, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military honors will conclude visiting hours at 1 p.m. Martin will be laid to rest in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Escanaba.
